Specimen Type: Whole Blood

Container: GREEN TOP (NA HEPARIN)

Volume: 6.00mL

Specimen Type: Clotted Blood

Container: RED TOP

Volume: 4.00mL

Collection Requirements: Collect the specimens as late in the day as possible. Note: Do not collect blood on Fridays or prior to a public holiday. Collect one green top tube (Na heparin) for pregnant patients or one red top tube (do not use serum gel separator tube) for male and non-pregnant females patients. Do not centrifuge. A completed Tay-Sachs Carrier Screening Program- Biochemical Testing requisition must accompany the sample. Specimens must be received within 24 hours of collection.

Storage and Transport: Store and ship at room temperature.
