Giving to Our Communities

As an organization that lives our values, Dynacare gives back to the communities we work in - making for a stronger and healthier future for all Canadians.

Dynacare Community Investment

At Dynacare, we believe in connecting with our communities.

Not only do we actively donate much-needed funds to various local, national and international charities and causes each year, but our people also donate their skills and time through many volunteer initiatives. We focus on supporting projects, programs and campaigns that:

  • Promote health & wellness, or help to build stronger communities;
  • Directly benefit the community;
  • Have the greatest positive impact;
  • Are measureable in terms of success.

Our Commitment to Reconciliation

As a Canadian healthcare organization, we recognize and acknowledge that Canada's history and legacy of colonialism has created health, social and economic inequities and disadvantages amongst First Nation, Métis, and Inuit people, including systemic racism within healthcare and other institutions.

As an organization that is dedicated to equity, diversity, and inclusion, we recognize that we have a role to play in reconciliation with Canada’s Indigenous communities. To demonstrate our ongoing commitment to reconciliation, we strive to take meaningful action to support positive change and progress in the communities we serve:

  • Since 2022, Dynacare has partnered with Indigenous communities in Ontario as part of the #Dynacare4Diabetes campaign to offer accessible diabetes testing at convenient pop-up events.
  • In 2023 Dynacare joined PanAm’s Medical Careers Exploration Program, which introduces Indigenous students to all the possibilities that exist in the healthcare field and aims to inspire, support and prepare students in their pursuit of healthcare careers. We welcome students at our Winnipeg laboratory for hands-on practicum days.
  • In 2024 Dynacare launched the Mino Pimatisiwin Scholarship in partnership with Herzing College. The scholarship will be awarded to two Indigenous recipients to undertake a Medical Laboratory Assistant certification in Winnipeg. In addition to the scholarship, Dynacare provides the scholarship recipients with the opportunity to complete their student practicums at our Winnipeg laboratory.

We hope that these initial steps provide opportunity to ensure Indigenous peoples have equitable access to training, education and job opportunities; lead to greater participation and representation in healthcare, and in supporting Indigenous communities.

2021-2024 Lead Charity

At Dynacare, our vision is to become Canada’s leader in health and wellness solutions by providing equitable access to healthcare for all Canadians.

This vision cannot be realized without help from the next generation. Since 2021, Dynacare has partnered with Visions of Science as our lead charity, providing them a $25,000 annual donation. Visions of Science are committed to advancing STEM equity by focusing efforts towards engaging Black and other racialized youth from low-income communities at critical stages of development.

In partnership with Visions of Science, we develop and deliver learning initiatives for youth aged 10-17, including field trips to our Brampton laboratory and paid laboratory internships, providing youth with hands-on STEM learning opportunities, and unique work experiences.

We are proud to give back to the community and to inspire young minds.

#Dynacare4Diabetes Campaign

30% of Canadians live with diabetes or diabetes, according to Diabetes Canada.

Since 2018, Dynacare has partnered with Diabetes Canada to organize the #Dynacare4Diabetes campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the risk factors for type 2 diabetes among high-risk groups, and provide equitable access to testing through convenient, pop-up community events. Each year, thousands of Canadians receive a free A1C test as part of the campaign, to help put them on the pathway to care and better understand their risk.
