Collection Requirements: Scabies lesions appear as slightly reddish elevated tracts in the skin with an itching rash. Scrapings of skin at end of tracks should be submitted. Conclusive evidence is obtained by removing the mite from its burrow with a needle and placing it into a container with a minimum of 5 ml of 70% alcohol. An alternative method: place between two glass slides and tape them together. Label both the slide frosted edge and the slide case/container.

Storage and Transport: Store and ship at room temperature.
