Dynacare and Diabetes Canada are teaming up for the fourth consecutive year for the #Dynacare4Diabetes campaign in the GTA during Diabetes Awareness Month in November!
As part of the campaign, Dynacare is offering free diabetes A1C tests - a blood test that measures average blood sugar levels over 3 months and is one of the commonly used tests to diagnose and manage prediabetes and diabetes. You can access your free test between November 1 and December 6, 2024, at Dynacare mobile clinics and at Dynacare Laboratory and Health Services Centre (LHSC) locations across the GTA.
You may have diabetes and not know it
According to Diabetes Canada, over 3.7 million people in Canada are currently living with type 2 diabetes, and 1.7 million people are estimated to be living with type 2 diabetes without knowing it.
During last year’s #Dynacare4Diabetes campaign, Dynacare administered approximately 86,000 diabetes A1C tests, and 60,000 of those tested returned abnormal results requiring medical follow-up.
Diabetes risk factors
There are many factors* that put individuals at high-risk of developing diabetes. Find out if you’re at risk by completing this anonymous questionnaire from the Public Health Agency of Canada. Those most at risk include individuals who have/are:
- above the age of 40
- a parent, sister or brother with diabetes
- of African, Arab, Asian, Hispanic, indigenous, or South Asian descent
- high blood pressure
- high levels of cholesterol or other fats in the blood
- a high BMI or are overweight (especially if that weight is mostly carried around the tummy)
- prediabetes (impaired glucose tolerance or impaired fasting glucose)
- Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
- psychiatric disorders (schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder)
- obstructive sleep apnea
- darkened patches of skin called acanthosis nigricans
#Dynacare4Diabetes makes diabetes testing accessible
If you experience such risk factors, consider visiting 60+ Dynacare LHSCs in the GTA for a free A1C test to find out if you have type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes. All tests administered through the #Dynacare4Diabetes campaign are fully funded by Dynacare and at no cost to Public Health Ontario.
You can also join us at one of our mobile clinics for more information on type 2 diabetes and have a free A1C test:

Dynacare donates to Diabetes Canada
To provide additional diabetes support beyond Diabetes Awareness Month, Dynacare will donate 50 cents for every participant who had an A1C test during the #Dynacare4Diabetes campaign up to a total of $25,000 to Diabetes Canada. The donation is to encourage their continued efforts to raise awareness and support those living with diabetes and their families.
