OXIDIZED LOW-DENSITY LIPOPROTEIN
Alternative Test Names
OxLDL, OXIDIZED LOW-DENSITY LIPOPROTEIN
The oxidized LDL test may be ordered for individuals at low or intermediate risk of metabolic syndrome or cardiovascular disease. In addition, this test is useful in individuals who have cardiovascular disease and are at risk for an adverse cardiac event.
Test Preparation Instructions
Optimal <60 U/L
Moderate Risk 60-69 U/L
High Risk >=70 U/L
Based on a recent study of an "apparently healthy"
and non-metabolic syndrome population (1), the following
cut-offs have been defined for OxLDL: A cut-off of <60U/L
defines a population with a low relative risk of developing
metabolic syndrome, a range of 60-69 defines a
population with a moderate relative risk (2.8 fold)
and >=70 defines a population with a
high relative risk (3.5 fold).
