HarmonyTM Prenatal Test
A pregnancy is a very special time in your life. There are many ways your healthcare provider can check on the health of your pregnancy. Dynacare Next offers the HarmonyTM
Prenatal Test to assess the risk of common fetal trisomies, including Trisomy 21 (also known as Down syndrome), which affect physical and mental development. Simple and safe, all this non-invasive test requires is a maternal blood sample. Though not a diagnostic test, it has been shown in clinical studies to detect over 99% of trisomy 21 cases.*
When you’re pregnant, your blood contains fragments of your fetus’ DNA. The Harmony Prenatal Test is a new type of test that analyzes this DNA in a sample of your blood to determine the risk of trisomy 21 (Down syndrome), trisomy 18 (Edwards syndrome) and trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome).
The Harmony test, a non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT), is a highly accurate prenatal test for all women, regardless of age or risk, including women with twin pregnancies and pregnancies conceived by in vitro fertilization (IVF). It can be performed as early as 10 weeks in pregnancy, and results are available within 10 business days.
The Harmony test’s methodology includes precise measurement of the amount of fetal DNA and incorporates it into the risk assessment, providing a more accurate result. In fact, it delivers unsurpassed accuracy when compared to any other Trisomy 21 blood test. The Harmony test has a combined detection rate of 99% and a false-positive rate of less than 0.1%.* It is also the most widely studied and used NIPT in the world – it has been studied in more than 22,000 patients and has been used in more than 400,000 pregnancies worldwide.
The Harmony test also offers options to screen for conditions caused by having an extra or missing copy of the X or Y chromosomes, including Turner and Klinefelter syndromes, as well as the option to know the fetal sex.
