At Dynacare, our vision is to be Canada’s health and wellness solutions leader.
Effective July 5
th, 2021, Dynacare will be introducing new technology for measuring Kappa and Lambda free light chains (FLCs) in serum.
Both the old and new methods are Binding Site immunoturbidimetric methods, but the current Binding Site SPA-Plus instrument will be replaced with the newer Binding Site Optilite instrument.
There is good agreement between the methods for patient Kappa and Lambda FLC results less than 120mg/L and there is no impact to the reference intervals. Compared to the old method, kappa and lambda FLC results from the new method will be about 20% lower in the range above 120mg/L.
There is no significant difference in the Kappa to Lambda ratio (KLR) between the methods, and the reference interval will remain the same.
