Prenatal Testing
Harmony
TM
Prenatal Test
A pregnancy is a very special time in your patients’ lives. You can help support your patients by offering important tests to assess the health of their fetus. Dynacare Next offers the Harmony
TM
Prenatal Test for common fetal trisomies, including trisomy 21 (also known as Down syndrome), which affect physical and mental development. Simple and safe, all this non-invasive test requires is a maternal blood sample. Though not a diagnostic test, it has been shown in clinical studies to detect over 99% of trisomy 21 cases.*
The Harmony Prenatal Test, a non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT), is a highly accurate prenatal test for all women, regardless of age or risk, including women with twin pregnancies and pregnancies conceived by in vitro fertilization (IVF). It can be performed as early as 10 weeks in pregnancy, and results are available within 10 business days.
Since a pregnant mother’s blood contains fragments of her fetus’ DNA, Harmony uses a sample of the mother’s blood to analyze the fetal DNA and evaluate the risk of trisomy 21 (Down syndrome), trisomy 18 (Edwards syndrome) and trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome).
The Harmony test’s methodology includes precise measurement of the amount of fetal DNA and incorporates it into the risk assessment, providing a more accurate result. In fact, it delivers unsurpassed accuracy when compared to any other trisomy 21 blood test. The Harmony test has a combined sensitivity of 99% and a false-positive rate of less than 0.1%.* It is also the most widely studied and used NIPT in the world – it has been studied in more than 22,000 patients and has been used in more than 1 million pregnancies worldwide.
The Harmony Test also offers options for Monosomy X (Turner syndrome), sex chromosome aneuploidies (including Turner syndrome, Klinefelter syndrome, XYY and XXYY), and fetal sex.

Prenatest
®
Prenatal Screening Service
The Prenatest
®
prenatal screening test is performed during the first trimester of pregnancy. It determines the risk that a patient is carrying a fetus affected by trisomy 21 (Down syndrome) and trisomy 18. Quick and straightforward, the Prenatest
®
method requires a few drops of blood taken from the tip of the patient’s finger and a fetal ultrasound. Depending on the risk result, the Prenatest
®
service includes the option of a non-invasive prenatal test.
