The following three options are available by appointment at our COVID-19 traveler testing locations. Before booking your appointment, please confirm which tests are required by the country or countries you are visiting.
The COVID-19 PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test is a molecular test that identifies an active infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus at the time of testing. The test looks for viral RNA in a sample of secretions collected using a nose and throat swab. If the virus is detected, the test is positive, which means that the person tested currently has COVID-19.
Information to Travelers Requiring Proof of a Negative PCR Test: Dynacare utilizes three different molecular tests to detect COVID-19 virus in clinical samples. Two of the tests are PCR-based (Roche cobas SARS-CoV-2 and Thermo Fisher TaqPath COVID-19 Combo), and the third (Hologic Aptima SARS-CoV-2) uses a different method (TMA) that is analogous to PCR. All three tests can be used interchangeably to determine the presence or absence of COVID-19 virus in a sample.
The COVID-19 Serology test is a blood test that identifies a previous infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. This test detects the presence of COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) antibodies in your blood, which result from a COVID-19 infection in the past. For greatest accuracy, it uses a 2-step, double confirmation process when a previous infection is detected.

Symptoms of COVID-19 can include fever, new or worsening chronic cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, sore throat, difficulty swallowing, decrease or loss of sense of taste or smell, chills, headache, unexplained fatigue/malaise/muscle aches, nausea/vomiting/diarrhea/abdominal pain, pink eye, or runny nose/nasal congestion without other known cause. If you think you may have an infection, call your local Public Health Unit to be referred to the right resource.
